Rachael Cruse CPA | Yellow Book Compliance | OH KY IN CPA

About Rachael

Rachael has in-depth experience providing assurance services, business insights and best practices to her clients.  She primarily serves not-for-profit organizations and has a broad range of accounting and auditing experience, including Uniform Guidance compliance, Yellow Book compliance, financial statement, and internal control engagements. She complements that experience with extensive technical training and excellent communication skills, which makes her an asset to the firm’s clients.

As a steering committee member for the Women’s Growth and Development Initiative at Barnes Dennig and a leader of annual and periodic training courses, Rachael helps develop both firm personnel and community organizations seeking support.  She also facilitates forums for financial leaders of local not-for-profits in the mental health and education sectors to promote financial education and collaboration.  Her leadership and business expertise are further applied as an adjunct professor at the University of Cincinnati.

Rachael was selected as a member of the 2021-22 Cincinnati Chamber’s Women Excel (WE Lead) class, recognizing her contributions as a leader and her vast potential to enact positive change in her organization, community, and region.

Rachael enjoys active involvement in the community.  She serves on the Board of Directors of Covington Partners, a local non-profit that supports youth development and eliminates boundaries to learning within the Covington and Northern Kentucky area.  She volunteers with several other organizations and was a member of the 2014 National Multiple Sclerosis Leadership Class of Cincinnati and its Emerging Leaders Council in 2015.

Rachael is a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration and concentrations in Accounting and Finance.

The same natural curiosity that makes her a great accountant also inspires Rachael’s love of travel:  she explores new destinations whenever she can and – in true accountant style – tracks where she’s been by adding pins to her world map.  She enjoys spending time outdoors and playing sports with friends and family, and she seeks out and shares the humor she finds in everyday interactions, making conversations with her an ongoing delight.

Rachael is a tremendous resource and is always willing to research complex questions on our behalf and support our adherence to the highest accuracy standards possible.

— Barnes Dennig Client, 2020

I have had years of great experience, and find this firm to be an excellent resource. I am a small nonprofit and my audit team has spent a lot of time teaching me how to manage our financials thoroughly, ethically, and accurately. I really appreciate what they have shared with us. I have found great value in them.
