About Cheryl
Cheryl’s expertise and thought leadership in state and local taxation, sales tax compliance, credits and incentives, and tax research and analysis make her an asset to growth-minded clients in all industries. Analyzing and translating complex laws into meaningful and actionable planning tools for business leaders is the driving force behind Cheryl’s work. Her professional experience includes nineteen years in tax compliance and consulting with local and international accounting firms and a regional bank.
As our State and Local Tax Practice leader and member of Barnes Dennig’s tax consulting team, Cheryl has helped numerous companies identify and execute state tax planning opportunities, internal best practices, and minimize tax exposure. Her areas of expertise include State Income and Sales Tax nexus, Audit Defense and Analysis, as well as Research & Experimentation Tax Credits, and other tax credits and incentives. Cheryl is a leading expert in the Employee Retention Tax Credit (ERTC), leading Barnes Dennig’s team and producing dozens of blog posts and virtual events on the ERTC and other pandemic relief funding.
Cheryl is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants (OSCPA), a 2013 graduate of the Cincinnati Chamber’s Women Excel Leadership – Class 7; and National Multiple Sclerosis Society Leadership class.
