What’s Accounting Today’s methodology for ranking firms by AUM?

Accounting Today’s annual Top Firms by AUM ranking recognizes leading CPA-affiliated wealth management firms across the country based on assets under management. The ranking is compiled from survey data submitted by firms with financial planning practices that include CPA credential holders. To be eligible for the ranking, firms must be CPA firms with a financial planning or wealth management practice (including subsidiaries or affiliates), and at least one financial planner in the practice must hold the CPA credential.

In addition to being CPAs, Barnes Dennig Private Wealth Management leaders George Sparks, Andy Bertke, and Ryan Lauer all hold the Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) credential. This exclusive credential developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) is available only to CPAs, and requires multiple years of financial planning experience as well as passing a rigorous exam.
