About Kat
A creative, innovative, and strategic marketer with a strong digital sensibility and a laser focus on ROI, Kat brings new ideas and new energy to Barnes Dennig’s marketing. She joined the firm in early 2020 and led Barnes Dennig’s digital transformation at a greatly accelerated pace, bringing new ideas and tactics to the firm’s already outstanding marketing team.
With in-depth experience in both agency and in-house marketing, Kat has a well-rounded perspective that enables her to find new ways to achieve results and drive brands and businesses forward. She has led agency practices for strategy, marketing, content, and research. An award-winning poet with a lifelong love of literature and language, Kat continually seeks new ways to connect with audiences and she excels at aligning target audience needs with organizational strengths and objectives. Her focus on creating connections that inspire interest, engagement, belief, and action drives measurable return on investment for marketing initiatives.
Prior to joining Barnes Dennig, Kat created game-changing brand positioning and marketing strategies across a wide range of industries, including Fortune 500 retailers, global consumer brands, national manufacturers, and national news organizations as well as small community colleges and not-for-profits, driving outstanding results across the spectrum. Examples include 600% higher-than-projected applications for an innovative retailer business development program and a 77% increase in graduation rate for a college struggling with the shift to outcome-based funding. Her digital transformation of a national manufacturing company led to more than one-third of company revenues shifting to e-commerce and resulting in the University of Cincinnati’s Goering Center Family Business of the Year award. The website she created for a global educational publishing company was recognized in multiple national news publications including The Washington Post, Newsweek, U.S. News and World Report, and The Wall Street Journal.
Kat holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcasting from Western Kentucky University, winning academic honors while associate-producing the University’s weekly TV news magazine and serving as the radio station’s news director.
A passionately committed and award-winning gardener, Kat spends an amazing amount of her downtime working in her garden, planning new garden projects, and fending off a constant barrage of squirrels, rabbits, and deer. She volunteers for the Cornell Lab of Ornithology as a citizen scientist and with Cincinnati’s raptor rescue organization, RAPTOR, Inc. She and her husband live in suburban Cincinnati with more cats than are strictly necessary and enjoy spending time with their three adult sons and five grandkids. She is also, somewhat oddly, a connoisseur of baseball brawls.
