Jay Rammes CPA | Managing Director | OH KY IN CPA

About Jay

“Helping our clients develop sound financial plans that enable them to grow and prosper is an important part of the work we do at Barnes Dennig. We’re committed to offering proactive, strategic advice that contributes to our clients’ success and makes their lives easier.”

Jay’s clients rely on his strategic business counsel to contribute to their success and drive their organizations forward. His background in tax compliance and research helps him provide insight across a broad spectrum of financial issues, and his additional in-depth expertise in accounting and auditing is based on the years he has spent supervising audit and review engagements. This combined experience in both assurance and tax allows him the ability to provide his clients with holistic advice in areas such as succession planning and mergers and acquisitions.

As Managing Director, Jay has streamlined decision-making, provided true transparency, and inspired outstanding levels of engagement in the Barnes Dennig team. Leading with vision and ambition, he’s established aggressive growth plans, guided the firm through the strategic planning process, and empowered leadership to execute that plan in innovative and creative ways. In this leadership role and as a member of Barnes Dennig’s Executive Committee, Jay has the experience of running a large multi-office organization and understands the struggles that come with growing a business – and a unique perspective that lets him see his clients’ business through their eyes.

Jay is integrally involved in Allinial Global, an award-winning association of independent accounting and consulting firms founded in 1969 – and the second-largest accounting association in the world. He serves as co-chair of the organization’s Americas Board of Directors.

Before taking on the role of Managing Director in 2018, Jay served as the practice leader of one of the firm’s largest industry groups, driving the business to new levels of success. Now and throughout his career Jay has worked with clients in numerous industries including construction, real estate, manufacturing, and wholesale/distribution.

Jay has been quoted as an authority on audit and accounting matters in the Business Courier and several industry trade group newsletters, and he is a regularly featured speaker at trade group meetings. In 2024, Jay was named one of Accounting Today’s Managing Partner Elite – an honor bestowed on only eight managing partners throughout the U.S. He’s a two-time finalist for the Cincinnati Business Courier’s C-Suite Awards and has been named one of Cincinnati Magazine’s Cincinnati 300 each year since the inaugural list was published in 2019 – the list recognizes top executives who are considered “the most influential, most powerful, and most impactful forces shaping Cincinnati today.”

In 2023 and 2024, Jay was named one of the Power 100 Rising Stars by Cincy Magazine, and in 2024 Ohio Business Magazine designated him as one of the Ohio 500 – a comprehensive list of Ohio’s most influential leaders. “Based on extensive contacts in regional business circles and interviews, the list is a highly selective biographical guide to the people who really run Ohio,” according to the publisher.

In addition to his professional affiliations, Jay has served on various boards for The Mercantile Library, Easter Seals, Anderson Township Little League, and Turpin Swim and Racquet Club.

Jay graduated from Miami University with a BS in Accountancy. He earned an MBA from Xavier University with a concentration in finance. He is a member of the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants (OSCPA) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).

In his downtime, Jay is a passionate and creative cook and enjoys testing the limits of his smoker. He loves traveling, watching his daughter’s competitive volleyball games, and catching up with a great novel or historical non-fiction book. He and his family have what he jokes is a “small zoo” – 2 dogs, 2 cats, and a koi pond. His golf game is terrible and his guitar playing is worse, but he loves doing both, anyway, to the dismay of friends and family.

Great partner. They know our business and know where to ask questions. They are available during the year for questions that come up as well and are always timely in responses. Their work is critical to our business’s success and we could not do it without them!
