James Wagoner CPA | Managing Director - Indianapolis

About Jim

Jim utilizes his in-depth knowledge of the tax code and its consequences to help his clients plan for their optimal financial future, applying his more than two and a half decades of expertise for their benefit.

A testament to his skill and work ethic is that Jim made partner only 8 years after accepting his first position as tax staff at Greenwalt CPAs. There, he accumulated extensive experience with tax consulting services, fractional accounting, and business advisory practices that led to his promotion to firm President and Managing Partner. When Greenwalt merged with Barnes Dennig in 2025, Jim brought his expertise to the Barnes Dennig team as the Managing Director of the firm’s Indianapolis market.

He’s served on various not-for-profit boards or committees, including the Investment Committee for the Community Foundation of Boone County, President/Treasurer for Mental Health America of Greater Indianapolis (MHAGI) and former Treasurer for the Zionsville Youth Football League. He formerly served as treasurer and board member for the Indiana Wildlife Federation.

Jim graduated from Manchester University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Master of Accountancy degree. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Indiana Certified Public Accountants Society (INCPAS).

The Barnes Dennig team has been and will continue to be a trusted business partner. I like their practical approach and the team is always ready and available to provide insights and assistance on a wide range of topics. Well done.
