Commitment to Community
Commitment to community is a defining principle for Barnes Dennig, and we work tirelessly to enhance and enrich the communities where we all live and work. We recognize much of our success has been supported the strong, vibrant markets that we serve, and feel fortunate to be able to pay it forward.
In addition to conducting annual campaigns that raise tens of thousands of dollars each year for United Way, ArtsWave, and the American Heart Association, the firm also holds a yearly Outreach Day. Every October, Barnes Dennig closes its doors and sends the entire firm into the community for a day of volunteering at deserving non-profit organizations in every one of our markets.
We dedicate our time, energy, and resources to go beyond the numbers and help organizations achieve their charitable goals – donating more than 9,000 hours to date to help non-profits in our region.
Building stronger, more resilient communities
We support community causes by:
- Conducting annual fundraising campaigns for United Way and ArtsWave
- Supporting Junior Achievement with financial contributions and an annual Bowl-a-Thon
- Participating in the work-study program with DePaul Cristo Rey, a Cincinnati Catholic high school whose mission is to provide a uniquely affordable Catholic, college prep curriculum for those that have the potential but limited financial means
- Serving on the boards of countless local and regional non-profits
- Encouraging and celebrating our employees’ volunteer activities
- Organizing our own fundraising events, like 5k runs and bowl-a-thons
And the list gets longer all the time.
Outreach Day
Every October, our entire organization comes together to collectively demonstrate our commitment to the community. We get out from behind our computers and calculators to work side by side with local non-profits. It’s an opportunity for us to be a part of something bigger than ourselves, and see first-hand how our clients fulfill their missions and help build a better, brighter future.

Educational Events and Video Series
Every year, Barnes Dennig hosts and sponsors thought leadership events for non-profit leaders seeking growth, often featuring nationally recognized speakers. Biennial Non-Profit Compensation & Benefits Benchmarking Studies
Every other year, we collect and analyze in-depth compensation, benefits, and benchmarking data from many regional non-profit organizations. We provide this information to non-profits for free to help them recruit and retain top talent. Download your copy of the latest report now.
Annual Accounting and Auditing (A&A) Updates
We host an event every fall to keep our non-profits current on the latest accounting and auditing standards. Our most recent presentation is available on our website. It features nationally recognized A&A authority Tom Groskopf, who also happens to be Barnes Dennig’s A&A service line practice leader.
Prioritizing an inclusive culture
Accounting careers support families and help create stable, thriving communities. But not everyone with aptitude and potential sees themselves in corporate spaces like Barnes Dennig.
So, we work hard to change that. We do things like recruiting from historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and providing female CPAs the tools to succeed – including through our Women’s Growth and Development Initiative. Barnes Dennig empowers people to be their best.
Maybe that’s why so many of our employees are involved in giving back and paying it forward. Members of our team at every level volunteer and serve on boards at non-profits throughout our communities, dedicating their time, financial resources, and energy to causes important to them.
