Barnes Dennig and Bertke, Sparks & Kremer to Join Forces

Barnes Dennig and Bertke, Sparks & Kremer, the area’s sixth and 22nd largest certified public accounting firms, respectively, are joining together January 1, 2014.  The combination will allow Barnes Dennig to provide enhanced service to its Kentucky clients and will provide access to broader resources to the clients of Bertke, Sparks & Kremer. The combined firm will operate under the name Barnes Dennig and is projected to rank as the area’s 5th largest accounting firm.  In addition, it will give the firm a multi-location presence to best serve clients on both sides of the river.

What does this mean for our clients?

As trusted advisors in accounting, tax or advisory needs, we have dedicated teams of talented service providers looking after our client’s business and interests.  With this combination, the Client Service Team and Relationship Directors will remain the same.  For clients in Kentucky, we have an office there to serve them better.  We also have greater resources in industry specialties and advisory services.

We value our relationships in the community and look forward to providing our clients with exceptional service for years to come.

“Being a multi-office firm with offices in Ohio and Kentucky extends our footprint so we can meet the evolving needs of our clients,” commented Andrew J. Bertke, Director at Bertke, Sparks & Kremer.  “We’ll continue to do whatever it takes to service our clients’ diverse needs and now we’ll have even more resources to do it with,” he added.

This combination of talent and expertise will provide our clients with more of what they’ve always looked to us for – ideas, insights and exceptional service,” said Steven P. Hube, CPA, Managing Director of Barnes Dennig.  “In addition, we’ll offer enhanced services to our Kentucky clients with the addition of the Bertke, Sparks & Kremer offices in Crestview Hills, Kentucky,” he added.

The Right Combination

With the combination, Barnes Dennig will have a director group numbering 18.  The three Directors of Bertke, Sparks & Kremer, Andrew J. Bertke, George S. Sparks and Harold P. Kremer, will become Barnes Dennig directors.  Steve Hube will be the managing director of the firm.  Total combined CPAs will number 63.

“Our clients will benefit tremendously from the synergies that will result from this combination,” noted Bertke.  “We’ll now have more brainpower to devote to solving the most complex tax and business issues that may confront the clients of either firm.  And, we’ll be able to continually improve our service levels since our combination will help us promote, recruit and retain the best people,” added Bertke.

“Since the official effective date is January 1, 2014, we’ll spend the next few weeks organizing our two staffs into one, client-focused organization in preparation for our historically busy season – from the first of the year through April 15,” said Bertke.

Bertke Sparks & Kremer is a multi-year winner of the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce’s “Emerging 30” award.  Barnes Dennig was the recipient of several honors over the past year including Cincinnati Top Workplaces by Enquirer Media, the Sloan Award for workplace flexibility and effectiveness and as a runner-up for the Goering Center’s Family & Private Business Award.
