On February 6th, Barnes Dennig hosted its third luncheon for local religious organizations, sparking some interesting conversations surrounding risks associated with operating a church. One of the more intriguing topics was a discussion regarding benevolence payments to individuals in need.
Managing Church Issues
Representatives from various churches discussed how they process benevolence requests and what controls they have in place to monitor recipients and curb potential abuse. In addition to this discussion, we also discussed how churches monitor the usage of company credit cards, obtain information from independent contractors, and their thoughts and beliefs on accepting donations via credit cards. Our next luncheon will be held in late summer of 2014.
